Fabrizio Romano’s Transfer Update that is good news for Celtic

Respected transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has this morning posted his latest transfer update which has a relevance for Celtic Supporters looking forward to the return of European competition in February.

Earlier this week Celtic were drawn against the two-in-a-row Norwegian Champions Bodø/Glimt in the knock-out round of the Europa Conference League. The Northern Norwegian side, who are actually located within the Artic Circle earlier in the competition stunned Jose Mourinho’s Roma 6-1 on their home plastic turf so Celtic know that they’re in for a significant challenge.

That task though might have got just a little bit easier this morning with Romano’s news on the transfer of the inspirational club captain Patrick Berg from Bodø/Glimt to French side Lens being imminent.

“Lens have reached an agreement with Bodø/Glimt to sign Norwegian midfielder Patrick Berg on a permanent move, done deal and here-we-go. The player will be in France today, together with his agent,” Fabrizio Romano tweeted this morning, adding: “Contract until June 2026 to be signed in the next few hours.”

When asked about Berg perhaps heading to Turkey instead, Romano replied: “He goes to Lens. Medical today.”

Bodø/Glimt are now on their winter break and the match against Celtic will be their first competitive game in several months. Their manager may also be in line for a move and perhaps one or two of their other star players.
