Farewell Nicolas. Now we’ve got to spend big. No excuses, Michael. No excuses…

Nicolas Kuhn is on the verge of ending his short 18th month spell as a Celtic player as he gets set to sign for newly promoted Serie A side Como in a €20 million [£17 million] deal.
Nicolas despite a shaky start to life as a Celtic player proved to be a quality addition to the side and the club have made a healthy profit on the £3 million it cost to sign him from Rapid Wien.
The German can leave with all our best wishes after contributing greatly to the four trophies won in his short period in Glasgow, and however disappointing it is to lose a player of Nicolas’s quality, what’s done is done and we can only look to the future.

That future should look ever so brighter due to the fee we received for his signature and every single penny should be reinvested in the playing squad. We’ve got to spend it there is simply no excuses.
Along with the Jerome Frimpong sell on clause bonus and the impending sale of Gustaf Lagerbiekle we should be capable of landing three or four quality additions to further enhance our starting XI. If not then the supporters and Brendan will have every right to feel aggrieved.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
I totally agree with you, sitting again with profits in excess of £20m after bringing in five players and that does not include any money we have in the bank. I think it is wishful thinking on our part if you think they are going to spend even that £20m on new players, you wonder at the ambition of the people running the club.
We need at least three players in who would be classed as first team players
Give it a rest with the aussie please!! Brendan is a far far bigger character with way more gravitas and respect all over the world on football at top level. The aussie was actively trying to get jobs in England even their championship from 12 months in at Celtic all reported in Australia ” epl” yeah nobody else uses that term but those psychophants do, you need to live there to really know it. So pipe down about that guy he not in Brendan’s class!! We are lucky very lucky to have Brendan
Ange Postecoglu signed Kyogo, Maeda, Jota, Hatate, Iwata, CCV, Matt O’Riley and other great players whose value has soared. Rodgers signed Engels, Idah, Kuhn & Trusty for a combined fee of around £30m. Only Kuhn has proven to be a good investment, the others are over-priced average players. No, Postecoglu is a far superior manager to Brendan Rodgers in every department. Just think back to the cup final Celtic lost to Aberdeen in May because the team, not for the first time last season, failed to turn up. That would never have happened under Ange.
It won’t happen! One player of higher value will be brought in using the Kuhn money, although not all of it, and whatever other additions we get will be bargain basement weans from the junior leagues. They’ll probably spin out the bigger signing until deadline day to make it look like they’ve been working really hard in the market. I think we all know how it’s going to work out. And by the way, Brendan won’t have anything to say about it outside a few snide remarks to the press. He’s no Ange Postecoglu. The Board wouldn’t have messed him about!
If Celtic sell khun and Maeda then that shows they don’t have any European ambitions or league title ambitions I would not blame Rodger’s for quitting if they sold both and try to buy bargain basement instead of quality
Gerry,
I can’t see Maeda being allowed to leave because that, I think, would be the final straw for Brendan. That having been said, I think Brendan must already be thinking about walking away from the club. I note they are now scraping the bottom of the J League barrel looking for the cheapest buys they can find. Kyogo and Kuhn have left massive gaps to fill before Brendan’s desire to add further quality can even be contemplated, yet here we are again with all these cheap deals being done. The Celtic Board is populated by the worst of the world’s misers who have no interest in improvement in Europe. It’s all about share value for them and I foresee Brendan leaving sooner rather than later unless something spectacular happens in the transfer market. The way things are at present, a £2m signing would be spectacular! No top manager worthy of respect would tolerate this.
