‘Few twists and turns ahead’, Pundit gives Celtic transfer update

PETER MARTIN has given the Celtic support a transfer update after the news broke that the club had failed to reach an agreement with Steven Fletcher. The 33-year-old was seemingly offered a one year deal with the Scottish Champions but the ex-Hibs attacker was hoping for a longer deal meaning Neil Lennon’s negotiating team decided to pursue other targets.

Taking to his Twitter account, the PLZ Soccer presenter said that there would be a ‘few twists and turns ahead’ of the transfer window shutting. The commentator claimed that the club were playing deals off of each other in order to get the best deal for the club.

Celtic are in the market for a new striker with Albian Ajeti of West Ham linked with a loan-to-buy agreement as well as Peterborough’s Ivan Toney. The former, a Swiss Internationalist, is taking his time deciding what it is that he wants to do. Meanwhile, Peterborough were desperate to sell Toney but as of yet no deal has been announced with either Celtic or Brentford.

Along with a striker, Neil Lennon should look to bring in another central defender as well as a wide option. The club can benefit from the five substitution rule as it will allow the team with the best squad depth to influence games.
