Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon has today been confirmed as the new manager of Dunfermline, initially on a short term basis…

Various reports that that Lenny will be in charges of The Pars until the end of the season with a big payout if he keeps the club in the championship. There is also an option to extend the deal if he is successful.
Dunfermline Athletic are currently second bottom of the Championship in ninth spot with 27 points after 29 matches. The Pars are six points ahead of Airdrieonians who look doomed and just one point behind Hamilton Accies who have 28 points. Queen’s Park in seventh spot on 33 points could possibly get dragged into the relegation battle but that seems unlikely. The sides all have seven games to play.

Dunfermline sacked 35 year-old Michael Tidser on Monday and immediately targeted the former Celtic boss as their top target. The 53-year-old former Celtic manager has been out of management since a bizarre three-month spell in charge of Romanian side Rapid Bucharest was brought to an end in August last year. Lennon also had a spell in Cyprus but again that ended in strange circumstances.
Dunfermline’s new owners James Bord and Evan Sofer are clearly intent on reversing the decline at the club and see Lennon as the man to change their fortunes in the Championship, a division that Neil Lennon won during his time at Easter Road as Hibs boss.

So it seems like a straightforward task for Neil Lennon – just get the better of Hamilton in the ru-in, pick up that bonus and look at the opportunity to extend the deal in the summer. We wish Neil all the best in his new role.
