Former Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan could be set to return to the Scottish Premiership. The Forest Green Rovers goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Aberdeen. Managed by Duncan Ferguson, Forest Green were relegated to EFL League Two and could be forced to offload the former Scotland youth Internationalist.
According to The Daily Record, Barry Robson wants Doohan to push his current crop of goalkeepers. Kelle Roos is the recognised Number One at Pittodrie with veteran Joe Lewis also on the books. It is said that Robson wants the former Celtic kid to bolster his ranks amongst homegrown, and Scottish-trained players for UEFA competition.
Doohan, 25, who was tipped as a Celtic No.1-in-the-making having spent seven years on the books with the club, joined Tranmere on a permanent deal in July 2022. The stopper had a spell on loan with the Merseyside outfit.
The Scotland Youth Internationalist has spent spells at Cumbernauld Colts, Morton, Ayr, Ross County and Tramnere whilst never making a full appearance for Celtic. Doohan was signed by former Dundee United manager Micky Mellon, who stated that he was glad that the young goalie was making his move permanent. Although, after just six months on his permanent contract, Doohan made a £300k move to join Forest Green.
