French Eddie wants many more Beautiful Sundays

“First of all, I want to win another Treble and as a striker I want to score as many goals as possible. I want to play as much as I can and to win more trophies and league titles.

“Celtic is one of the world’s great football clubs — and I was desperate to make my move permanent.

“The scenes from May when we achieved such a historic double Treble and made the city come alive are still very fresh in our memories. To see our fans so happy is the reason you play football.

“Now we want to do everything we can to bring our great supporters even more success.”

These were the words of Celtic’s new signing Odsonne Edouard, who has achieved his ambition in signing a 4 year contract at Celtic and in doing so gives himself the chance to continue to develop under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers.

“I’ve learned a lot under the manager,” French Eddie said. “He’s had a very important role in the developed of my game. I owe him a lot for what he has done and the time he has given me. Now that I’m back here I want to continue learning from both the manager and my team-mates as well.

“There wasn’t a particular moment that I knew I wanted to stay. As soon as I came on board I wanted to impress enough to try and stay at Celtic. I was working closely with the manager on a project and I want to finish what I had started with the manager because I feel I am improving as a player.

“It feels amazing to have finally signed. I’m very happy to be here. It was my number one objective to come back to the club. Now that I’m here, I’m going to focus on enjoying my time here, learning a lot from the coach and my team mates and just really try to enjoy my time here at this club.”

French Eddie knows that he is already a massive favourite among the support – those Skelpers against Rangers are very special memories from last season – indeed his goal at Ibrox on the first Beautiful Sunday was probably the best moment for many supporters.

“It’s an incredible atmosphere when you play in front of Celtic fans, especially at Celtic Park. I’ve played in a lot of stadiums and by far, I would say the atmosphere at Celtic is the best in Europe. The fans are amazing and I look forward to playing in front of them for many seasons to come. Hopefully I can give them some good memories.

“The day we won the league against Rangers at Celtic Park has been one of the highlights of my time here at Celtic so far,” he admitted. “At the beginning, it was a bit hard because I was adapting to a new country, a new club and new team-mates. I needed time to settle down. Once I did that I started to score and really started enjoying my time here.

“I want to play as much as I can. I want to score more goals and I also want to win more trophies and league titles. Celtic is a club which is focused in winning and this is a good environment for me to be in.”
