Full Back Unlikely To Return Until New Year, As Ange Delivers Celtic Injury Update

Celtic left back Greg Taylor has been out of action since early September with a shoulder injury. The Scotland international underwent surgery for the ailment and has been deputised by a combination of Josip Juranovic, Adam Montgomery and Boli Bolingoli. That trio have themselves struggled with fitness and thus the left back position has become problematic with nobody able to make the role their own.

Ange has now revealed that the saga could continue until the new year as Taylor is “about four weeks” into his rehab, and is still “a few months away from returning.”

As reported by Football Scotland,  Postecoglou told the media: “Greg’s had an operation on his shoulder, it’s about four weeks since he started rehab so he’s still a good couple of months away. It’s a contact thing where we have to be careful.”

When broached on the topic of Taylor’s deputies, and being referenced to the fact that Bolingoli is not registered to play in the Hoops’ Europa League campaign, the manager said: “Adam (Montgomery) is happy he’s getting called into training and working with the other guys – I’d hate to think anyone at this club thinks they are first choice with me, particularly a 19-year-old in his first season.

“We also have Liam Scales who‘s progressing and improving all the time and Josip Juranovic is also fit so we have options in that area.”
