Gabby Agbonlahor tells Celtic to take chance on Charlie Wyke

Former England striker Gabby Agbonlahor has said that Celtic should take a chance on Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke. The Sunderland striker is a free agent but the Black Cats are hoping to offer him a new deal to keep him at the Stadium of Light but Celtic are one of a few team vying to sign the 31-goal striker on a bosman.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider that he thinks that Celtic should take a chance on the player that has never played above English’s League One.

“He could do. It’s worth giving him a chance.

“If he can do that in League One then I reckon it’s worth giving him a chance.

“They need a bit of a change there so it’s worth giving him a chance.”

Celtic are beginning a colossal rebuild under Ange Postecoglou with the Australian being announced today. The striking positions are just one of a few requiring immediate attention but given Patryk Klimala has left and Odsonne Edouard is nearing a move to Leicester, the club need to sign a couple of strikers ahead of the new season.

One of Postecoglou’s first jobs will be to determine whether Griffiths and Bayo have futures at the club. The pair are likely to attract interest and Ange may think that he can reuse the wages more appropriately and get rid of them in the summer.
