“It’s great for the club,” Kieran Tierney

KIERAN TIERNEY enjoyed the Europa League victory over Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday night but he has put the return match on Thursday to the back of his mind until after business is taken care of against St Johnstone tomorrow afternoon.

KT spoke at the Celtic media conference yesterday and had the games against Zenit on his mind while maintaining that the initial focus is on securing three points tomorrow to maintain Celtic’s handsome lead over nearest challengers Aberdeen at the top of the league.

“It was a great result, but the minute the game has ended that is it,” Kieran said.

“We are up against St Johnstone and we want to make sure we get all three points and keep our momentum going.

“We have to give that our full attention before thinking about Zenit.

“It’s half time in that tie, but we did well. We stuck to our game plan and it worked.

“Were they rusty? You could maybe say that. We were straight into the Champions League qualifiers and it’s tough.

“But they will have another 90 minutes under their belt and they will be sharper.

“I thought we played really well. We defended well and limited Zenit as much as we could. And we were dangerous up front and finally got the goal.

“It’s great for the club.”
