‘A hard night and we’re disappointed,’ KT, ‘a bitter taste,’ Mulumbu

STAND-IN CELTIC skipper Kieran Tierney was disappointed in the goals that Celtic conceded last night in the 3-1 defeat to Red Bull Salzburg. The Hoops were protecting a 1-0 lead at the start of the second half but lost two poor goals in quick succession before the hosts were fortunate to get a third gifted to them by a refereeing error. Not that it mattered by that stage, but sure James Forrest was fouled, fell and brought down the Salzburg player with him?

Anyway KT wasn’t happy at how it all panned out.

“You’re disappointed in the goals you concede of course. But it is what it is. We’ll reflect on the game and see what we can do better and improve on.

“It was a hard night, we got off to a great start with the goal then after that they were piling on the pressure. I think we coped well with the first half, but the second half they got a few goals obviously.

“We knew it was going to be tough. We did well in the first half but not well enough in the second.”

On the red card decision KT was somewhat noncommittal as he wasn’t in a good position to see what had happened, as reported by STV.

“I think he said he slipped a bit, but from where I was I couldn’t see it clearly.

“I think Salzburg are a Champions League team, the standard they play at and the pressure. It’s a very hard place to come and get a result.

“They’ve shown that in the past with their record so we are disappointed but we know we played a great team as well.”

Meanwhile, The Celtic Star’s Man of the Match Youssouf Mulumbu took to social media to comment on the game.

“Tonight’s result does not reflect the commitment and effort we put in for tonight’s match and for my first start in the Europa League,” stated Mulumbu.

“This defeat has a bitter taste. But it’s not over yet and we’ll work even harder to get the right results in the next games and qualify for the next phase.”
