Highlights as dominant Celtic seal Scottish Cup progression

Celtic powered into the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup with a dominant display against Falkirk at Celtic Park yesterday. John Kennedy’s side registered an incredible 42 attempts as they looked to batter the League 1 side into submission; however, the Bairns held firm for the first 45.

James Forrest got the first in the second half as dominant Celtic finally reaped the rewards of all their dominance. Tom Rogic slid Forrest in, who cut back and unleashed a right footed shot goal bound. Lewis Neilson got in the way of the effort, deflecting the effort beyond a helpless Robbie Mutch.

Christie made it 2-0 after he cut in front the right hand side, smashing the ball into the bottom corner.

Moi Elyounoussi scored a splendid third goal as Celtic booked their place in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round draw. The Norwegian attacker scored his fifteenth goal of the season, taking a heavy touch from a Jonjoe Kenny cross that took him goal-ward before dinking the ball over the onrushing Robbie Mutch.

Celtic will now travel to Ibrox later this month as they look to seal progression to face Clyde or St Johnstone in the Fifth Round. It is a tough draw but Celtic are certainly capable of sealing a win against Steven Gerrard’s side.
