Celtic face Raith Rovers at Celtic Park tomorrow afternoon for the second time this season. A 3-0 win over the Kirkcaldy side back in September helped Ange Postecoglou’s side along to their first trophy. Goals from Jota – his first for the Hoops – Liel Abada and David Turnbull made it a comfortable if rather mundane win for Celtic which took the Celts through to the semi-final.
Jota made it 1-0 after just 26 minutes. It was really an excellent pass from McCarthy as he played it into Jota’s pass and allowing him to get into a shooting position.
Liel Abada made it 2-0 to Celtic after winning a header at the back post. The winger capitalised after Jamie Macdonald could only party a shot from Jota. The Portuguese winger cut in from the left and struck a fierce, swerving drive but the Raith Rogers goalie managed to claw it away only for Abada to follow up.
David Turnbull curled a low shot into the net to make it 3-0. Jamie MacDonald couldn’t get to the midfielder’s effort as Celtic came out firing after halftime. Although, that would be all the goals on a comprehensive win at Paradise.
A 1-0 win in the semi-final against St Johnstone was backed up by a 2-1 win against Hibernian in the final, which gave Ange his first trophy as Celtic manager. Hopefully the game tomorrow will be a step towards lifting a trophy at Hampden later in the season.
