History maker Forrest praises his one-two partner Tom Rogic for today’s assists

HISTORY MAKER James Forrest became the first Celtic player since the 1950s to score 4 goals in the first half of a match for the club when he grabbed that number at Perth this afternoon in a 6-0 win over St Johnstone.

Forrest was clearly delighted with his goals and the win for the side as Celtic get back to their usual free goalscoring ways.

“The gaffer asked us to be more ruthless in front of goal and as you saw today, the boys were really hungry after the disappointment of midweek,” Jamesy said. Of course he had the disappointment of getting a red card in Salzburg although he was probably harshly treated by the referee. Today made up for that though.

“It was a really good first-half. We didn’t keep it going and score the same number of goals in the second but everyone’s delighted with the win.

“When we started, we were on the front foot, we pressed well as a team and everything was coming off. We created a lot of chances and, thankfully, I was taking them so I’m delighted with the four goals.”

Forrest piad tribute to the role Tom Rogic played in his goalscoring exploits today.

“For three of my goals, Tom Rogic and I played a good one-two. Tom’s great to play with and you saw that today. I’m just glad we managed to score a few goals and keep a clean sheet.

“I wanted to keep contributing to the team and score more. I went in at half-time having scored four and I’ve never scored four before. I’m delighted with the goals and the performance today.”
