Hoops’ hierarchy ramp up pressure for eventual fan return

It’s been more than the typical fortnight we usually have to endure away from Celtic Park since we last saw the Celtic faithful line the streets of Parkhead and take to their seats at Paradise – 444 days to be precise. A fanbase so used to flocking to the East End of Glasgow every two weeks has been effectively been blockaded by the pandemic; so much so, that a lot of fans have forgotten what it is like to make their way down the infamous Celtic Way, with the smell of scran and drunken Glaswegians making the experience ever so rememberable.

We will be doing all we can to achieve this as soon as possible and will update all our supporters on developments as we look ahead to the new season.”

However, the long-awaited day that fans are allowed back to Celtic Park may not be long off, given the pilot tests sorted out by the government of late. Events such as the Euros – in which 12,500 supporters are to be welcomed for the Scotland vs Czech Republic game at Hampden in just under a fortnight – and events this week allowing fans at Glasgow Green all bode well in the advancement of supporters being allowed back into grounds after almost a 15-month delay.

Celtic Football Club addressed this change in an official statement on the club website, where it was stated:

“Clearly, we are encouraged by the recent announcement of supporters being allowed entry at sporting events across Glasgow this summer, including at Hampden and on Glasgow Green. Celtic has been at the forefront of the effort to get supporters back with us and now as we move back to normality, we are preparing to welcome you home to Celtic Park. We will be doing all we can to achieve this as soon as possible and will update all our supporters on developments as we look ahead to the new season.”

Hold tight, folks – it won’t be long until you’re back in Paradise with the 60,000 around you belting their hearts out. We can’t wait.
