“Huge Blow” as Lennon admits Celtic Star requires surgery next week

James Forrest is to undergo surgery on his ankle this week and will be missing from the Celtic line-up for at least another six weeks. Effectively this will rule out the winger until at least the start of 2021.

“James requires surgery, so that will hopefully take place next week and get that tidied up but he’ll be out for a period of time,” Neil Lennon told the media at his pre-match conference a few days ahead of today’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at a Behind Closed Doors Hampden. “I don’t know how long, it will depend on how successful the surgery is.”

The Celtic manager reckons the absence of his first pick right winger will be a real blow for the team. “Of course he is a big miss,” Lennon admitted, as reported by Scotsman. “He’s a brilliant player, whether it be for club or country, and he’s had such a fantastic period over the last three or four years whether it be goals or assists. It’s a huge blow to us and he’s difficult to replace. At the moment, we are going with Moi and Rya in the wider areas. Mikey is still a bit away from being fully fit, so having James out is a huge blow.”
