“I don’t think the people in Norway understand,” Odin Thiago Holm

“It’s a really big club, I don’t think the people in Norway understand how big of a club it is” explained Odin Thiago Holm in his first interview as a Celtic player with the club’s in-house TV station.

Holm is aware of the size of the stage he is stepping up onto and acknowledges it won’t be something he has experienced before.

“Vålerenga are the club from the capital who have 10,000 each game and here we have 60,000, so it’s a really big step”.

The 21-year-old Norwegian, who recently was nominated for the prestigious European Golden Boy award had no qualms about joining Celtic and didn’t have to think twice about making the move to the East End of Glasgow.

“I didn’t really think I just wanted to leave as soon as possible you know, it’s Champions League, you play to win every game. It’s a big club”.

Holme also admitted his excitement at working under a manager of the prestige and reputation of Brendan Rodgers.

“His CV is very nice. He’s managed Celtic before, and also at Liverpool, Swansea and Leicester.
“You get a bit starstruck a first but I’m really looking forward to working with a manager of that size”.

The Norway u20 international is a gifted technician who can operate anywhere across the midfield and should provide healthy competition for Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley who seemed irreplaceable at times last season.

“I think I’m a creative player that likes a bit of freedom to play on my instincts, the final pass, score goals, assists. I want to play more as a number eight or number 10, offensively”.

Holm is under no illusions how difficult it will be to break into this Celtic side but remains confident in doing so.

“Yeah of course, it’s not going to be easy, but I want to perform and be part of the first eleven after some time”.

Breaking into this treble winning team will be a tough task for Odin Thiago Holm, but a task that can be achieved amid the 21-year-olds huge talent and potential.
