Immobile Shines as Lazio Ready for Celtic Visit

Ciro Immobile scored his one hundredth goal for Lazio tonight as Simone Inzaghi’s side came from behind to beat AC Milan at the San Siro.

It was the first time in 30 years that the Rome side have beaten AC at the San Siro and it means that Lazio will be confident ahead of Celtic’s visit to the Italian capital on Thursday.

The Italian striker showed clinical movement as he drifted from the left before arching a run which resulted in him connecting with a perfectly weighted cross and heading Lazio into the lead.

Immobile’s strike partner, Correa, who started the match in Glasgow two weeks ago – began in a 3-4-1-2 formation – scored the winner late on after a swift, stylish move by the visitors.

Tactically, it is interesting that the side reverted from the 3-5-2 they used in Glasgow to a 3-4-1-2 in Milan – that number 10 position could be important for supporting the strikers. Lazio play a very counter-attacking system, which relies on their wingbacks getting high up – as we saw at Celtic Park.

Celtic will need to be at their absolute best and remain concentrated throughout the match as any lapses will result in chances for Lazio.
