International Striker Confirms Injury Lay-Off

Ivory Coast’s U23s have confirmed that Celtic’s number 10, Bayo, has been ruled out of their upcoming AFCON clash with Egypt. Test results were expected on Monday to confirm the extent of the injury; however, they have confirmed in a post one their official Instagram that Bayo would be withdrawing due to an injury sustained training with Celtic.

Bayo himself shared the post to confirm that he would be out for a while to recuperate after tests confirmed the injury. The striker, 22,  signed for Celtic from Dunajská Streda in January 2019 and has struggled to displace Odsonne Edouard as the club’s undisputed number one striker.

Neil Lennon confirmed the lay-off last week but surprisingly Bayo was included in the U23s squad anyway. It remains to be seen whether Lennon will foray into the transfer window after this injury leaves him with just one fit striker – as Leigh Griffiths still struggles with fitness.
