“It’s a fantastic feeling,” said Elhamed in this exclusive interview with Celtic TV. “It was very exciting for me. It was amazing to walk out and see all the people in the stadium. I like it so much and it’s left me motivated to improve myself and show that I deserve to be here.

“It was a good performance. I arrived at half-time and watched the second half. It was good football, the atmosphere was amazing and I hope to join them very soon. I hope I can make a good impression on the fans.

“I went into the dressing room after the game and said hello to everybody. They were very kind and I’m expecting my first training session on Friday. My family are so proud of me. This is a big club and it’s great to be part of this club,” the 28 year old said.

“I’m waiting for my first game to prove that I deserve to be part of such a big club like Celtic.

“It was about a month-and-a-half ago that my agent spoke with me and told me Celtic were interested, and I did everything I could to come here.

“I spoke with Nir Bitton. He is my friend and he said very good words about people here, which was great for me. Nir and I were together for a few years at Ashdod, but we also played together in the youth national team and the senior national team so we are good friends. It helps.

“He can tell me a lot of things and help with a lot of things, especially with my family.”
