Tough test awaits Celtic today. Our attackers will be key in getting us a victory…
Our lunchtime clash with St Johnstone in a bright and sunny, freezing cold Perth is one of those games that will test our strength of character. We all know how Craig Levein sets his sides up and today won’t be any different.
Yes, it’s cold, the McDiarmid Park pitch won’t be at it’s best and we will face a side who will close us down and kick us at every opportunity and of course park the bus. It’s a day where everyone needs to stand up and be counted, it’s a game that will test our resolve and one we will need to overcome if we want to take the three points to help us defend our title.
Particularly in an attacking sense, today seems especially important. We missed Luis Palma on Tuesday night in Rome and his determination to get the ball forward at every opportunity will be vital tomorrow. Kyogo of course has been a little below par by his usual high standards recently, so he will be out to rectify that. He is due few goals, let’s hope he rediscovers his scoring touch today.
We could also see the return of Mikey Johnston after he looked sharp in his short time on the park midweek against Lazio. And I wouldn’t rule out a surprise start for Marco Tilio, although it might be too soon for the Aussie, particularly with the present Scottish climate!
Today the key to getting something out the game will be down to the form of our attacking players. Let’s hope they are at the top of their game, if not it will be a long ninety plus minutes.
