“It’s one of the dream we have for the season,” Fran Alonso eyes Celtic Scottish Cup glory at Tynecastle

The Celtic Star broke the news last night that the Scottish Women’s Cup Final will be held at Tynecastle on Sunday 29 May. The two semi-finals will be decided next Sunday 1 May when the two ties are played over at the Falkirk Stadium.

Celtic take on Hearts while Glasgow City play Partick Thistle to try to earn a place in the Final at the end of next month.

Today Fran Alonso and League Cup hero Caitlin Hayes were through at Tynecastle alongside representatives of the other three semi-finalists for the official launch of the Cup Final building-up and Fran Alonso has been speaking about from Tynecastle about the chance to win a second trophy this season, the Scottish Cup for the first time ever and only the third trophy in the history of The Celtic FC Women team.

December’s League Cup Final win over Glasgow City was thoroughly enjoyable and the crowd at Firhill early in December was clearly Celtic minded to say the least. That helped roar the Ghirls on and the produced a dominant performance against the current Champions to win the match comfortably and bring the League Cup back to Celtic back.

Now though Fran Alonso is targeting a Scottish Cup triumph. Given that the semi-final takes place on the same day as the Glasgow Derby as Ange Postecoglou’s side look for another three points against theRangers to edge ever closer to the title, then this semi-final against Hearts will be somewhat overshadowed, to say the least.

Why couldn’t these games have been arranged for the Bank Holiday Monday?

Anyway assuming Celtic get past Hearts then the Celtic support have a chance to take over Tynecastle on Sunday 29 May for a huge Celtic party down Gorgie Road, and once again roar the Hoops on to bring the Women’s Scottish Cup to Celtic Park for the first time ever.

Will you be there when history can be made?

Before that Celtic FC Women play Hamilton at New Douglas Park on Sunday afternoon, with the Celtic manager reporting no injury problems out with the on going goalkeeper injuries.

But it’s next weekend you should keep your eye on after the Glasgow Derby. Beat Hearts then all roads will lead to Tynecastle for Celtic support on Sunday 29 May for the Women’s Scottish Cup Final.
