‘I’ve loved every minute at Celtic,’ Why Broony is staying for the Ten

PLENTY of Celtic supporters are saying on social media that while they are delighted with the new arrivals in the transfer window, the best signing news was that the captain Scott Brown had decided against accepting the £40k a week to play in Australia to commit to Celtic for the final two years of his career which will of course give him the chance to lead the Hoops to the historic Ten in a Row.

“I love the club, I love winning games, I love winning trophies,” Broony said in first interview after signing his two-year contract extension. Watch his interview with Celtic TV below.

Referring to the offer from Melbourne, Broony admitted he had given it serious consideration, but ultimately his heart was always in Paradise.

“It was tempting but I didn’t want to rush into it and say, ‘Right, I’m off’ which was why I took so long to make the decision.

“I’ve loved every minute at Celtic. When you go to Celtic Park and see a full stadium it was going to be hard to move to a new club with no fans and they were going to lease a stadium for the first two years.

“They were going to build a fanbase so it’s pretty much starting from nothing and hoping you get up to 20,000 after a season.

“They might do that but it was going to be hard whereas at Celtic you’ve already got the history and I didn’t want to miss any of that. The kind of figures mentioned are different but it’s also a totally different game as well.

“I enjoyed the Dubai training camp so that put my head on a swivel! But I love the club, I love winning trophies and playing in the Champions League which is why I signed here in the first place.

“When you play at Celtic you play to win games and fans expect you to go and win games.”
