A convincing win in the end, but still lots to improve on for this Celtic side now free from international football until the spring…
With Aberdeen losing at St Mirren today it was vital that we took advantage at Tynecastle, and we did just that.
We won comfortably in the end at a difficult venue thanks to goals from Kyogo, Nicolas Kuhn and an Adam Idah brace as we went three points clear at the top.
It wasn’t all plain sailing however, and we looked very lethargic, especially in the first 45. It was very similar to our last league outing at Kilmarnock two weeks ago, but just like then our class told in the end, and that at the end of the day is all that matters I suppose.
We did play some decent stuff in spells during the second half, but our all round play seems to have took a dip since our excellent win at Celtic Park against RB Leipzig, and that is something we can’t ignore.
Playing after the majority of our team has been away on international duty, to play in all corners of the world, obviously presents challenges for Brendan Rodgers and the bad news for the rest of the league is that there are now no more international breaks until next spring.
We’ve not been as consistent as we know we can be these past couple of games as a result of these breaks. We haven’t been starting with the fluency and ruthlessness we know we are capable of, and I’m sure it’s something that will be annoying Brendan Rodgers.
We are now clear at the top and in a very good place, but there is always room for improvement and that is now going to happen with everyone back in the building and fully focused on Celtic.
Bubbles bursting up north and bottles crashing over in Govan with to quote their biggest forum, yesterday was the Point on No Return for Philippe Clement.
Enjoy you Sunday folks.
