Jota Included in SPFL Team of the Week

After his goal and performance against Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday, Jota has been included in the cinch SPFL Team of the Week. The Portuguese superstar makes into the left-wing spot but is the only Celtic star included – odd considering the Mooy Masterclass in the City of Discovery.

Truth be told, the winger has been off the boil for a short time and Ange Postecoglou had acknowledged that fact by taking him out of the starting XI for a few games. Credit to both the player for bouncing back and the manager’s understanding of how to manage his squad.

At the beginning of the season Jota was on fire; his goal against our fierce rivals theRangers being a particular highlight of his Celtic career to date. But, as happens with footballers throughout the world, the 23-year-old hit a rough patch and he wasn’t his usual, consistently high performance self.

That looks to have been remedied though as his goal and general display on Sunday evening was like the Jota of old. It’s great that he has been recognised for this as his goal was superb, however, it seems rather bizarre that his teammate, Aaron Mooy wasn’t included in this one.

Wouldn’t want too many Celtic players in there now, would we..?

Don’t want to upset the supporters of a certain other team in Scottish football…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
