Journalist says Celtic could receive up to £3m for Ryan Christie

Celtic will receive up to £3m for Ryan Christie, according to journalist Alan Nixon. The Sun sports writer was fielding transfer questions on Twitter and he was probed on how much Burnley and Bournemouth were bidding for the 26-year-old.

Earlier the Daily Record had claimed that it would be just £1m for the playmaker as he had six months remaining on his deal; however, Nixon appears to be adamant that Celtic will receive up to £3m with add-ons for the midfielder.

It will be interesting to see how much Christie goes for. If it is to be believed, Burnely actually bid more and were offering a more lucrative package; however, the Scotland Internationalist was clearly sold on the lifestyle of the South Coast as opposed to the North West. He will likely be aware of his old pal Stuart Armstrong’s situation at Southampton and fancies a relaxing life off the pitch as well as the chance to earn promotion to the Premier League with Scott Parker’s side.

Elsewhere, Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Celtic will receive between €18/19m for Odsonne Edouard. The player has agreed on personal terms over a switch to Crystal Palace and will undergo a medical today and Romano has delivered his customary ‘Here we go’ to sign off on the deal.

The journalist has said that Celtic will receive around £16m for the player but he does not say whether there will be add-ons included in the agreement for the player.

Palace wanted Edouard and worked hard to get him. The player also appeared keen on linking up with Vieira and ex-PSG youth coach Said Aïgoun – who is on Vieira’s staff. The player appeared to want a move to the Premier League and the lifestyle in London will have certainly appeared to the 23-year-old.

Edouard was a fan favourite at Celtic, the success that he enjoyed in his time at the club will be remembered for years to come as well as incredible goals. In particular, the Treble Treble winner, his goal in the 3-2 game at Ibrox and a last-minute winner at Tynecastle gave me some of my best days in a stadium.

Best of luck to the pair as they move on from Celtic and into the next stages of their career.
