Kieran Tierney to Arsenal? – ‘Lol Celtic want £40million,’ ITK Gooner

AN ARSENAL In the Know has claimed that Celtic want £40million for Kieran Tierney if the club is to agree to allow him to move to North London.

And an informed BBC News Sports News Correspondent David Ornstein reckons that there is going to be further bids with the Premier League giants confident that they will sign Celtic’s star player.

“As reported elsewhere Arsenal have had an opening bid of £15m for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney rejected – but there is optimism an agreement will be reached between the clubs, while personal terms for the 22-year-old Scotland international shouldn’t be a problem,” Ornstein wrote.

But let’s have a look at the £40million claim that has been made by a prominent Arsenal fan Darren who has 132k followers on Twitter and has a track record of providing their supporters with information and informed rumours – you know the kind of chap, we have them ourselves!

Darren’s estimation is closer to the mark than the insulting bid that started the bidding for Kieran Tierney. £15million for a player of Kieran’s quality stinks of English arrogance, yet if they think so little of our game why are they so keen to sign our players?

A quick look at the replies to Darren’s tweet is enlightening.

A Celtic supporter starts the replies saying: “Name a better left back? Ffs you English have that Maguire at £80 f*****n million? £80M would be plenty Tierney is 10 times the player! £40m ? Get tey f**k,” Dún Geimhin CSC stated.

“For a player that’s injured every season consistently?” Mr Arsenal asked.

“Injured consistently shows you how little you know of the player. The rat Rodgers ran him into the ground and he ended up with a double hernia. £40m is easily the figure you should start at but I’m sure he’ll want to win things so Arsenal would be a weird choice if he moved,” Celtic fan Anne Marie said.

Another Celtic fan, Wills Monteith had this to say: “You’d be paying double that if he was coming from the same division,” and when you think about it Moussa Dembele has doubled in value after just one season at Lyon.

An Arsenal fan called Eddie reckons that £40million is still a decent deal for the Gunners saying, “He’s worth it,” while another Gooner, Liam said: “Not surprising, £40m for a 22 year-old British player sounds about right. Especially one with a reputation of being one of the better left-backs around. They’re well within their rights to ask for that much.”

Another Arsenal fan, A wasn’t for paying £40m. “I don’t think so, Ornstein said that there is optimism an agreement will be reached between the clubs,” he said.

A Celtic fan, Alex wasn’t having it. “We don’t want £40m. We just need to put a price out there that means he’ll stay with us. He shouldn’t be just another Premier League trinket… he’s more than a player to us. What price would you have ever accepted for Bergkamp or Henry?? You wouldn’t want to sell at any price.”

Another Gooner, James reckons that the £40m price is fair, “He’s worth it,” he stated.

“The halcyon days when English clubs got Scots for a pittance is over. You’ll pay the going rate or get f**k all. I’d accept £40m with 20% add-on,” Con Shaunery said.

And talking about the £40m figure another Arsenal fan reckoned that “You could buy the club for that!” which prompted this response from a St Pauli supporter: “Rich coming from an Arsenal fan. A club that, with every single multi-billion TV contract signed, seems to get even poorer.”

John, a Hoops fan had his say: “If and some of the dross doon there are “worth” £50m+ then KT is a steal at £40m. But why would he want to go to a soulless tin pot club like Arsenal anyway?”

“They sold Dembele for £20 million to Lyon and now its Arsenal they want too much money. What’s wrong with these people?” asks a Gooner, obviously unaware of the current market value of Dembele.

Frankie explained to him what happened last August at Celtic which resulted in the transfer to Lyon: “You love overpaying for players, so why not ask for what we want. We sold Dembele because Brendan Rodgers and him fell out, and Moussa wanted gone sharp. Tierney is a Celtic fan at heart and the first name on the team sheet, won’t be as easy.”

Another Gooner: “What are they smoking at Celtic Park?” and Loadsatrebles replied “if Arsenal can’t pay what he’s worth, i’m sure other clubs can.”

“If Luke Shaw can go for £50m then yes he is more than worth it,” Mark noted. He doesn’t appear to support either of the two clubs. Another Gooner, “Would call it a good deal if it would be 25M or below,” while Mark added,”Chillwell going for £50m he is no where near Tierney.”

Jim Kerr joined the conversation: “I would say he’s worth £60 million, you’re getting him cheap at 40 million,” he said.

Arsenal fan Daniel was next: “That’s how negotiation works. Arsenal offer £15m, Celtic want £40m – deal will be agreed between £25-30m (or £25m + Jenko/player on loan),” while Brian asked “Why would he go to Arsenal? Is he fed up winning trophies?”

Steven, who is a qualified FA coach, made a fair point: “It’s not like Celtic would spend it on new players either!” ah, he knows us so well! LouMun67 added, £”40m for his right leg. He’s here for 10 in a row.”

David McKay wanted to know what the Arsenal fans thought about the value of another Scottish left back. “How much would you say Andrew Robertson is worth?”

An Arsenal fan, tired of their lack of spending noted, “Our entire budget on a left back…Tragic.”

Henriklubo is fed up with Twitter and some so-called Celtic sites. “Sick of all the clickbait stuff which is even worse from so called Celtic sites. Time to give Twitter a miss.”

Darren, a Liverpool fan had this to say: “If Celtic had any sense they would use Wan Bissaka and the benchmark for the price. Tierney looks a better player to be honest and Celtic would be stupid to accept anything less that top dollar for this lad.”

“He is on a 5 year contract, Celtic fan born and bred, best player club have produced in years and in no hurry to leave. Celtic don’t need to sell. If Arsenal want him it’s at least £30 million. If they don’t want to pay that fee, then move on,” Betty Swollocks told them.

Scott MacLeod said: “Just think Harry Maguire the hopeless centre half £65 million.”

“Think it’ll be In the £20-25M range but he’s worth it. The many Champions League & Europa League games he’s played is a better benchmark to judge him on than the admittedly poor Scottish domestic competition and he looks good,” Sean, a Leeds Utd fan opined.

“Can’t imagine KT sitting in your dressing room surrounded by overpaid journeymen not giving a sh*t about the jersey. The guy’s dedication and passion is worth more money than your full team put together,” Mick a Celtic fan stated.

Think we’ll leave it there…
