Kyogo’s goal ends the drought and will see him back to his best

Great to see Kyogo grab a goal yesterday, it will do wonders for his game…

Kyogo has been out of sorts recently, it’s not been a secret. He’s looked a different player than the one we’ve witnessed the last two years. Whether that’s down to Brendan Rodgers or the Japanese striker just going through a bad patch is up for debate.

But yesterday he scored the all important opening goal against Livingston with a well taken, instinctive finish. It was a goal we had come accustomed to seeing the Japanese striker score in the past, and the joy and relief was plain to see on his face. It was vital not just for the team, but the player himself.

You could see it rejuvenated him, and he looked more like the old Kyogo afterwards. He was sharp and bright, always looking for the ball and had that wonderful smile back on his face.

When he was subbed later on he left the field to a deserved standing ovation. That was a good bit of man management by Brendan Rodgers giving the Japanese striker the opportunity to lap up the acclaim of the Celtic support. He may well have been off form, but he’s still adored by the Celtic fans, and it was good for him to be reminded of just that.

Hopefully it’s a turning point for Kyogo and he kicks on in the upcoming games. When he’s on form he’s unstoppable. Let’s pray that goal is a turning point and we’ll now him back to his best.
