Leicester City linked with January move for Celtic midfielder

Leicester City have been linked with a January move for Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie. The 25-year-old has been linked with a reunion with former boss Brendan Rodgers by 90Min, who claim that the East Midlands outfit want the Scotland International.

With the emergence of David Turnbull in recent weeks relegating Christie to a place on the bench, he could be keen to seal a move to the Premier League – and so too could Celtic as the player has been unwilling so far to agree a contract extension beyond his current 2022 deal.

Rodgers is said to be a fan of the versatility that Christie brings, with energy and an eye for goal. Christie made his breakthrough at Celtic under Rodgers in the League Cup semi-final versus Hearts and really kicked on from there, culminating in him becoming a mainstay in the Scotland and Celtic teams.

Turnbull signing seemed to signal the end at the club for another attacking midfielder – Tom Rogic but with the three of them vying for one spot, it is expected that one might move on.  Although Premier League interest might peak Christie’s interest as well as the club’s for the right price.

Christie was nominated for the Scotland International Player of the Year after his goalscoring performances for Steve Clarke’s side; however, he was beaten to the award by former Celt David Marshall.

  1. Sell him, 15 million plus benkovic, he is overrated and not 100%committed to celtic, so let him go and watch him regret it in 2-3years time. He was also supposed to be interested in mcgregor, he can have him as well for another 15 million.
