Lewis Morgan to Start against Sarajevo after impressing Neil Lennon

LEWIS MORGAN has earned himself a starting stop in the Celtic side that will face Sarajevo this evening, The Celtic Star understands.

The winger, who recently returned from his loan spell at Sunderland, came off the bench in the way leg in the Bosnian capital last Tuesday and impressed during his cameo role.

Neil Lennon has told the player that he wants him to be more direct in his play and that was clearly evident last Tuesday night. Morgan followed that up with a Man of the Match performance against Rennes in the goal draw friendly at the weekend.

Tonight the Celtic manager will reward Morgan by giving him a start a match that Celtic start with a 3-1 advantage from the away leg. Morgan spoke to Celtic TV on Saturday afternoon after the draw with the French Cup winners.

“The game today was a tough run-out, they’re a good side, but it was good to be back here at Celtic Park,” he said. “To come back and play in an arena like this was something I was itching to do and I’m glad to be here doing that.

“The manager has been clear in what he wants from me. He wants me to be direct, to get fans off their seats. The wingers have been doing great here in recent years, and there’s always competitions for places.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute of pre-season and I enjoyed that out there today. I was delighted with the opportunity and hopefully I did enough with my performance today.”

And Morgan is delighted to be working under Neil Lennon as Celtic manager.

“I view a new manager coming in as clean slate for me. Last season maybe didn’t go as well as I’d have wanted.

“It’s now up to me to make sure I’m putting in the performances. I went out on loan to Sunderland, worked hard and learned a lot. I think Celtic is getting a better player back.

“I want to continue improving and making my mark here.” the 22 year old added.

Tonight is therefore a big night for Lewis Morgan. Watch him go for it!
