Luis Palma has now completed his move to Olympiacos on a loan deal until the end of the season. The Greek side has an option to purchase the Honduran international winger for €4m in the summer…

Palma had a medical in London on Friday

Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the deal was likely to progress at yesterday’s media conference at Lennoxtown and Palma had travelled to London on Thursday evening to undergo a medical ahead of the move. That has gone through smoothly and the deal has now been confirmed and the player has arrived back in Greece to continue his football adventure.

Olympiacos confirmed the signing of Luis Palma from Celtic on their official website. They stated:

Olympiacos FC announces the acquisition of the 25-year-old international winger, Luis Enrique Palma Oseguera.

Born on January 17, 2000, in La Ceiba, Honduras, he joins from Scottish champions Celtic, where he made 48 appearances, scored ten goals, and provided ten assists.

During his time in Greece with Aris, he scored 17 goals and provided eleven assists in 52 matches.

In his homeland, he has played for CDS Vida and Real Monarchs SLC, while he has also represented his national team 18 times, scoring three goals.

Luis, welcome to the Olympiacos family!

Palma last appearance for Celtic will almost certainly have been his substitute slot at Villa Park on Wednesday night on the 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa in the Champions League. Olympiacos has officially announced the signing of Luis Palma and welcomed the on-loan Celt to the club.

The very best of luck to Luis Palma

The very best of luck to Luis Palma at his new club. The pace of Greek football and the warmer weather will probably suit his game much more than playing in Scotland were faster and much colder.

Jota gets his new squad number after Palma’s departure

Earlier this week Celtic re-signed former player Jota from Rennes with Kyogo going in the opposite direction. Joy, who had not been allocated a squad number is in the squad for the Scottish Premiership match at Fir Park against Motherwell tomorrow afternoon. This emerged from the Celtic fan media conference where Conor Spence attended for The Celtic Star and asked Jota the first three questions (video below)…

However the news that the Palma move back to Greece, this time to join Olympiacos, has been finalised has resulted in Celtic allocating the coveted and iconic Number 7 jersey to Jota, our Superstar from Portugal.

Expect Jota to be on the bench tomorrow and hopefully get a half an hour to work help work his way back to full match fitness.

Perfect commercial sense from Celtic

It makes sense commercially for Celtic to have Jota as Celtic’s No.7 and you can expect to see plenty of jerseys with that on the back in the coming weeks, months and years.  So Jota is back and like many other former Celtic favourites, he will be on the wing!  All we need is for the club to bring back Ellie Dixon to sing the Jota song…

  1. No backup left back and the one that is here has 1 foot out the door, only 1 stiker, no depth in central defense and you think that Jota getting No. 7 is a ‘big announcement’.

    Brutal.
