Maik Nawrocki’s Hannover future in limbo, Calmac’s confession

Hannover sporting director Jörg Schmadtke stated that the club would look to make Maik Nawrocki’s loan move from Celtic permanent for a fee of £2 million if they secure promotion to the Bundesliga – only to be dismissed from his role just a day later…

The Polish centre-back has been a standout performer in Germany’s second division and further endeared himself to supporters by scoring the decisive goal in a derby victory over Eintracht Braunschweig at the weekend.

Hannover hold an option to sign Nawrocki outright for the agreed fee and currently sit fifth in the table, putting them firmly in contention for a promotion play-off place.

Schmadtke – who previously worked as sporting director at Liverpool – had only rejoined Hannover less than three months ago.

He was questioned about the club’s intentions regarding a potential deal for the 25-year-old defender, who still has more than two years remaining on his Celtic contract.

He said via Glasgow World: “It depends on which league we’re in. A final decision will be made about Maik relatively late in the season. He’s been good for our side. The crucial thing is that he’s fit and maintains his rhythm.”

However, Hannover opted to dismiss Schmadtke on Monday, leaving uncertainty surrounding Nawrocki’s long-term situation at the club.

Celtic’s worst performance under Martin O’Neill

Meanwhile, Callum McGregor admitted that Celtic’s 2-0 defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice was the worst performance over the 74 year-old’s two spells as manager this season.

CalMac said: “Over the two spells with Martin [O’Neill] and Shaun [Maloney], I think that’s probably the worst that we’ve been. We’ve had a pretty bad day and we have to accept that. The players have been really, really good over the two spells.”

“We haven’t dropped too many points. When you come here, it’s difficult. But like I said, I think we have to look at ourselves. We never did enough.”

“We never really created that many chances either. So, it’s one we have to take on the chin. Now we’ve obviously got a wee break and go away, dissect it.”

    Always liked Nawrocki.
Another example of the nonsensical shit that goes in at Celtic these days where actual decent players like Rocki, Oh, Iwata were shipped on when absolute dug shite like Mvuka, Balikwisha, etc etc are brought in.
Club is a fuckin shambles fae top tae bottom & people don’t even seem tae recognise a player when they see it.
