Two wins and two defeats for Lenny as he edge closer to safety
Saturday marked Neil Lennon’s fourth match in charge, having opened with a 3-0 loss to Scott Brown’s Ayr, followed by a 1-0 win against Livingston, before suffering another narrow 1-0 defeat at East End Park to Hamilton Accies.
Young Celt keeping clean sheets for Lenny
Tobi Oluwayemi has been Lennon’s constant in goal during his time at Dunfermline, with the on-loan Celtic keeper recording two clean sheets in four matches under the new manager in Fife.
Celtic signed the 21-year-old from Tottenham Hotspur when he was only 16. Despite spending time out on loan with Cork City and Austria’s Admira Wacker before his move to Dunfermline, he is still waiting for his first senior appearance for the Scottish Champions.
Oluwayemi is set to return to Celtic once the season wraps up, though competition for the goalkeeping spot in Brendan Rodgers’ side remains competitive.
Stiff competition for the gloves at Celtic
Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo, and Scott Bain are all ahead in the pecking order, with Oluwayemi, Aidan Rice, and Joe Morrison – currently on loan at Stenhousemuir – further down the list of options for the manager.
Meanwhile, Dunfermline have three matches remaining to avoid the drop in the Scottish Championship. Lennon will face his former teammate Mark Wilson in the dugout this weekend as the Pars take on Partick Thistle at East End Park.
Lennon’s men then face Airdrieonians in what will be a decisive encounter in the battle for safety. They will then take on Morton at Cappielow in their final outing of the season. Avoid finishing in the bottom two and Dunfermline will be a Championship club next season.
