NEXT up in our Celtic Supporters Q&A is John Mackin from Possilpark in Glasgow…

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am 70 years old come from Possilpark,I’m a retired distillery worker.

What does Celtic mean to you?

Celtic means everything to me.

Who were your early Celtic heroes?

My early heroes? There are too many to mention but here’s a few John Divers, Pat Crerand, Bertie Auld, Jinky and John Hughes.

What’s your favourite Celtic song and why?

My favourite Celtic song is For it’s a Grand Old Team by Glen Daly, it was the first record my mum bought for me and I’ve still got it.

How often to do you get along to the games these days and what’s your match day routine?

Sorry to say I don’t go to many games now due to personal circumstances.

Have you traveled to an away day in Europe to see Celtic? If so can you tell us about your experiences?

I was at Milan for the European Cup final against Feyenoord. There was ten of us and 2 young boys. We hired a mini bus to go the game, we had to hire it from firm in Birmingham as we couldn’t get one in Glasgow, so we set of for Milan on the Saturday before the game on my mates old van to pick up the mini bus in Birmingham. We all stayed in London on the Saturday night at a mates sister’s house. Next day we went to Paris for the night and on Monday ended up in Genoa and stayed there until the day of the game. It was a great time except for the result! I have been to Amsterdam on a one day flight for a match against Ajax in 1972-73 I think.

If Celtic could have one Lisbon Lion in his prime playing for us now, which Lion would you choose to play?

The one Lisbon Lion that I would like to play now would be Billy McNeill.

Finally can you tell us a funny story about your time supporting the Hoops?

There are a lot of funny stories especially in the days of the cairry oots but can’t think off hand just now!
