Montgomery to follow Kwon in Scottish Premiership loan move

Celtic loaning fringe players to other Scottish clubs is ideal…

Following the loan departure of Kwon to St Mirren on Friday, there is talk of more of our fringe players heading out on loan to fellow Scottish clubs.

Adam Montgomery who at the end of last week was recalled from a loan spell at Fleetwood Town is one of those players who’s being touted for another loan spell, this time much closer to home, with Dundee and Motherwell both being mentioned. That is the ideal scenario for both club and players. Montgomery himself has had a previous loan stints with Aberdeen and St Johnstone.

Now with Kwon getting some much needed game time with St Mirren as he looks to find his feet in our game, it’s now time for more of our players to do the same. The likes of Mikey Johnston and even Yang could both also benefit by plying their trade temporarily with another Scottish side.

Some of our youth players could also do with a loan spell with another Scottish side. Not just at Premiership level, but in the Championship also. It would be more beneficial to them than playing in the lowland league.

The likes of Tony Ralston and Liam Scales are proof of that. Think further back and look how it rejuvenated Ryan Christie when he spent a spell at Aberdeen. The reality is that most of them won’t get a sniff of regular first team playing time at Celtic, so it’s in everyone’s best interests for them to go out on loan, and preferably to another Scottish side.

There’s also the side benefit of strengthening fellow Scottish Premiership clubs when they play against theRangers with these players not being allowed to play against their parent club. Remember just last season Liam Scales scored a sensational goal for Aberdeen against them in a 2-0 win at Pittodrie.
