Neil Lennon gives transfer update after comprehensive European win

NEIL LENNON has issued a transfer update following last night’s comprehensive 6-0 win over KR Reykjavik at an empty Celtic Park. An OG and goals from Odsonne Edouard, Greg Taylor, Christopher Jullien as well as a brace from Moi Elyounoussi completed a 6-0 rout in the Second Qualifying Round of the UEFA Champions League but despite the win, Neil Lennon wasn’t ready to rest on his laurels in the transfer market but he wasn’t ready to commit to any names.

Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland after the match, the manager was coy on defensive transfer arrivals with Shane Duffy having been heavily linked recently.

“We’ll see. It’s given us a bit of breathing space but I’m happy with the squad, we just need a few of them to get up to speed.

“But for where we are at the minute we’re doing okay.”

Celtic have only signed three players this summer whilst eight departed. Albian Ajeti and Vasilias Barkas joined the club for a combined total above £9m whist Moi Elyounoussi returned on loan. Celtic will need to get a central defender as well as a left back in the building should they wish to compete on all fronts. With that said, the ever reliable Nir Bitton at centre half works as an option in a three man defence although an enforcer is still needed to bolster the back line.
