Callum McGregor joined his manager Brendan Rodgers in perfectly handling the attempt this week to derail Celtic’s semi-final preparations by some clown who couldn’t wait to post a video of Adam Idah having one too many on during a rare couple of days off from training…
Brendan Rodgers at his media conference spoke at length about this and correctly turned the focus on those who go out of their way to try to damage people by posting this kind of thing on line. Idah will have been a worried Bhoy having to call his manager and may have thought that his chances of retaining the jersey from last weekend were diminished by the video appearing on social media.
It was such a ‘no big deal’ incident that even Sandman didn’t reference it in his definitive ratings early today and as regular readers will know James Forrest has been paying a price in these light hearted jibes for many a season now since his own night-life controversy that occurred much earlier in his career.

The Celtic captain, who just edged out Reo Hatate for Man of the Match in the 5-0 win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden, had no problem with the Idah incident, although the banter in the dressing room would have been excellent.

Adam Idah kept his place in the team, led the line well and scored one but should have had another, unlike earlier in the week when he clearly shouldn’t. Football players generally don’t drink as much as was previously the case with the old mantra of drink together, win together seemingly well out of fashion.

Speaking at Hampden yesterday after the 5-0 win, Callum McGregor gave his own thoughts on this embarrassing little episode for the 24year-old Irish centre-forward.
“Obviously he’s been fine, he’s been OK. Everybody knows what’s happened. Listen, young boys will be young boys and that’s fine. No problem with that. He was off the next day, then boys are happy and free to do whatever they want and that’s fine,” Callum McGregor said.
‘That’s just the way of the world these days”
“As long as he’s producing in training and games, then it’s not really an issue for anyone, to be honest. So I’m really happy for him. He gets his goal, he contributes to the team and obviously that will help him as well.
“Obviously, we know what it’s like. We live a life in the public eye and everybody’s desperate to get something off you. And that’s just the way of the world these days. So we have to try and be smart about it. But the thing that we’ll judge him is based on performances in training and games. And he’s done that and it’s nice just to put a lid on it.
“That’s it, done now. Everybody just move on and life moves on as normal.”
