“Number of options were available to home side” Celtic say

Celtic have provided an update for the Celtic supporters – many of whom are young children – who have been banned from attending the SWPL1 match at Ibrox after the Rangers claimed that there was a security risk for tomorrow’s much due to them claiming that a number of ultras had purchased tickets.

Celtic dismiss this allegation and pointed out that the security at games is a matter for the home club, while they demanded that Celtic fund the costs involved.

As already mentioned on the story that The Celtic Star broke this morning, there has been three matches this season – all played at Airdrie- and all with both sets of supporters in attendance.

This is their first home game and the sizeable Celtic support would certainly provide plenty of backing to the team. That now won’t happen conveniently for theRangers.

It looks like Celtic are going to play their game which is frustrating to say the least. Here’s the update that Celtic posted on the club’s official website…

It has been confirmed to Celtic Football Club just this morning that all away tickets will be cancelled for tomorrow’s women’s SWPL match at Ibrox Stadium.

At a time when so many are working so hard to promote and support the women’s game in Scotland, the decision to deny access to so many fans is hugely disappointing, even more so given that there were a number of options available to the home club to allow our fans to safely attend in a stadium of such capacity and given the expected crowd.

Celtic will liaise with the home club regarding refunds for all tickets and will communicate to our supporters who had purchased tickets as soon as possible.

We are pleased to inform our supporters that the match will be broadcast at the Sports Bar within Celtic Park tomorrow for any supporters who wish to attend.
