Odin Thiago Holm on the cusp of a decent Celtic career

Holm has already proved he’s good enough for a regular start at Celtic…

Odin Thiago Holm has looked a decent player since joining in the summer. He’s had a few fleeting appearances but even then you can tell he has what it takes to be a superb player. He played for just under an hour in the rout of Aberdeen and he looked the part once more.

Holm loves to move the ball fast, he can find a killer pass and he has an abundance of energy. He brought a freshness to our midfield. He looks confident for one so young.

I thought David Turnbull showed up well when he replaced him, indeed scoring a great goal, but I thought the midfield looked more fluent and energetic with young Holm on the park.

In my opinion Holm should be first pick alongside Matt O’Riley and Callum McGregor in Reo Hatate’s absence. Brendan Rodgers knows that he has plenty of options with David Turnbull and Tomoki Iwata also pushing for a regular start but Holm has already shown that he is worthy of consideration.

It was no fluke that we looked more compact in the middle of the park against Aberdeen, and young Holm played his part in that. It’s all up to Brendan of course, but he must be mightily impressed by the young Norwegians raw talent and youthful enthusiasm for the game.

I’d be surprised if he wasn’t a regular starter going into the busy run of fixtures up to the winter break.
