On This Day: Wins over Sarajevo, Cliftonville and QPR

On This Day, Celtic have recorded two Champions League Qualifier wins as well as a pre-season friendly victory over London side QPR.

In 2019, Neil Lennon, having been appointed Celtic manager for a second time, saw out the second leg of the Champions League First Round Qualifying against FK Sarajevo at Parkhead. Ryan Christie opened the scoring before the visitors struck level. Callum McGregor sealed the victory with a second-half strike.

In 2013, Lennon took his Celtic side to the North of Ireland to face Cliftonville. It was an easy 3-0 win for the Celts thanks to goals from Mikael Lustig, Georgios Samaras and James Forrest as they sealed their place in the next round on the way to qualification for the group stages of the Champions League for the second year in a row.

In 2003, Martin O’Neill’s Celtic travelled to Loftus Road to face Queen’s Park Rangers. Early goals from Stan Petrov and Henrik Larsson sealed the win as the Celts prepared for the new season, in which they would win the League and the Scottish Cup.
