“Paradise at last,” Ally Johnston posts wonderful Twitter message

Ally Johnston was revealed to the Celtic supporters yesterday and the fan media had the opportunity to ask our new signing some questions. It has been a whirlwind few weeks for Johsnton as the Canadian alluded to during his first tentative interactions with the media and the Hoops will be hoping to see some of that World Cup desire at Celtic Park.

Johnston caught the eye particularly during Canada’s group stage match with Belgium, as the 24-year-old was relentless in the tackle and showed great composure against the many talents of Roberto Martinez’s Belgium side. He more than held his own and looks a very promising young defender.

Ange has brought Ally to Parkhead in the hopes that he can mould another diamond from a lump of coal. He has all the raw materials to be a great player and the boss has already said to Ally that his game suits Celtic Football Club down to a tee. With interest intensified in Josip Juranovic, it would appear that Ally might get a chance sooner rather than later in a green and white jersey.

But for now he has come to compete, as he revealed during his chat with the Celtic Fan Media. You can read all about that and more right here on The Celtic Star. His impressive footballing skills seem to be just one of the reasons he has been brought to the club, with Johnston coming across exceedingly well in interviews. No doubt this is a major part of why Ange Postecoglou made a play for the former CF Montreal man.

For now though, Ally is just delighted to be at Paradise and the World Cup star noted as much on social media after signing. Taking to Twitter, the no-nonsense defender said:

“Paradise at last HH”

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
