Photo Of The Day: Celtic Fans In Yerevan For Alashkert Qualifier

There’s not much to be said for the champions of Scotland having to navigate up to four qualifying rounds to reach the Champions League group stages, but for nine out of the last ten years Celtic have had to do so. The one consolation about that scenario is that travelling supporters got to explore the world and visit unusual destinations. July 2018 threw up one such fixture, as a small band of Celtic fans headed to Yerevan – the capital of Armenia – where FC Alashkert lay in wait.

The Hoops breezed past their unfancied opposition, with goals coming from Odsonne Edouard, James Forrest and Callum McGregor. That 3-0 scoreline was then replicated at Paradise eight days later.

Today’s photo of the day shows the Celtic faithful enjoying themselves in the Armenian sun.

Hopefully European away trips are soon on the horizon, albeit Celtic no longer go into this season’s qualifiers as league champions.
