Photo Of The Day: Patsy Gallacher With His Sons On A Historic Day At The End Of Season 1947/48

The name of Patsy Gallacher is legendary at Celtic Football Club. It goes without saying that he is one of the finest player’s in Celtic’s long and illustrious history. However, little is known about his sons, who were professionals and one of whom played for Celtic.

Today’s photo of the day visits the final match of the 1947/48 season, when Celtic travelled to Dens needing victory over Dundee to ensure that they avoided relegation. Here, Patsy is pictured with his boys – William (Celtic) and Tommy (Dundee) – ahead of the match.

Jock Weir scored the perfect hat-trick to give Celtic a 3-2 win and ensure the club’s survival. Thankfully, Celtic have never been in such a position again.
