Photo Of The Day: Petrov Celebrates His Goal Against Rangers

Today’s photo of the day takes us back to January 2004, when Stiliyan Petrov scored a diving header against Rangers at Celtic Park.

Celtic won 3-0 that afternoon; Stan Varga and Alan Thompson adding to the Bulgarian’s strike.

All three goals were of the highest quality but none were celebrated as heartily as Petrov’s who slid on his knees in front of the away support.

The result put Celtic 11 points clear at the top. Fans unveiled a banner at full time reading: “We enjoyed the chase,” whilst one newspaper ran the following headline on McNamara, who performed excellently: “Delighted to be Jack the Skipper.”
