Photo: Peter Lawwell makes appearance for Scott Brown presentation

Peter Lawwell made an appearance on the pitch at Celtic Park this evening, giving Scott Brown a souvenir of his last game at Paradise as club captain. Over 14 years and 619 appearances, Brown leaves for Aberdeen in the summer and will be a big void to fill next season.

After what has been a challenging day for Celtic’s PR team after the club opted to remove Palestine flags in the stadiums, Lawwell strolled onto the touchline and presented Brown with a shiny gift.

The player is deserving of a fitting Celtic send-off but due to the season that the club have endured and COVID-19 it is a low-key affair. Lawwell will leave his role at the end of the season but leaving an enormous mess for incoming CEO Dominic McKay to clean up. A number of players are entering their final year of their contract, loanees will depart and no manager has been appointed.

Whilst Brown knows who he will be playing under next season, the Celtic players still haven’t had the news that Eddie Howe will be the next boss (or anyone else) despite Neil Lennon leaving two months ago.
