Possible chance for Celtic to sign forward in January after he plays down prospects of Liverpool transfer

It’s starting to look like we will see some sort of attacking reinforcement in the January transfer window. There’s no need to replace anybody in the first team, but the injury to Vakoun Bayo does mean the squad would be stretched if someone like Edouard picked up an injury.

It’s tough to figure out what kind of signing Neil Lennon would want to make. It might be tempting to sign an established veteran where you know they will be able to contribute straight away, but there’s no real long term value in that kind of transfer.

It might be worth taking a risk on a younger project who could grow into a valuable first team player in the future. We all know that Edouard will move on eventually, so it would be ideal to get his future replacement now and allow him a couple of years to bed in.

A recent report from HITC has claimed Celtic and Liverpool are both looking to sign FC Copenhagen forward Mohamed Daramy. They quote an earlier report from 90min in saying both clubs are interested, but there might have been a development.

In a recent interview Daramy claimed he didn’t know much about Liverpool and played down any rumours about him making the move to Anfield. He’s only 17 so it’s hard to see him getting any first team action if he made that move as well.

The injury to Bayo has left Neil Lennon short of striking options

The report does go on to suggest that could open the door for a possible January move to Celtic. Despite his young age he’s played a decent amount of games for the first team and looks pretty prolific at youth level.

He’s billed as a centre forward who can also play on either flank, so his versatility could be useful. It just depends if Celtic think he could be good enough to improve the first team just now, but he’s an interesting name to look out for.

Expect plenty more names to be linked over the next few weeks.
