Premier League strugglers could use their potential £75m windfall to move for Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard

It’s safe to say we are now at a point where any Premier League side who needs a striker is going to be linked with Odsonne Edouard, and this week it’s the turn of Aston Villa.

There’s no doubt that most sides down south will have the financial muscle to meet Celtic’s demands and offer him a big pay increase, but he’s never actually made any noises about moving this summer so it’s hard to take it seriously.

The Daily Mail were the latest to make the link between Villa and Eddy, with suggestions that the Birmingham side were willing to pay £30m to land him.

The problem there is that he’s proven he’s worth more than that fee, while you also have to think he would happily stay and challenge for trophies and wait for something better than a club who are fighting for 17th place in a league to come along.

There is one interesting thing in this for Celtic in terms of Jack Grealish, with The Metro recently pointing out that Man United were upping their interest in Jack Grealish, who could be worth up to £75m.

That would be great for Celtic because they would be able to demand a massive fee in the knowledge that Villa would have a lot of money to play with, but it would make the move less attractive for Eddy when he realises they’ve sold their only good player.

It just looks like another lazy rumour with no substance behind it, so it’s not really worth getting that worked up about from a Celtic point of view.
