AFTER a few days off it’s back to business for The Celtic first team squad at Lennoxtown today. And Norwegian defender Kristoffer Ajer has been speaking to the media as the build-up to Saturday’s Premiership match against Aberdeen gets underway.
Looking back on one of the more eventful weeks in Celtic’s history, the 21 year old seems to have taken it all in his stride and has been impressed by the new manager Neil Lennon.
“It’s been a good week,” he said. “The gaffer’s come in and spoken to the squad about the way forward.
“The win at Easter Road was a tough game. It was a big achievement,” Ajer noted with some satisfaction.
“The new gaffer has been really good in getting to know the whole squad. It’s important that we know exactly how the Manager wants us to play.”
Ajer was asked about the recent crowd trouble that has seen coins, seats and bottles thrown – a Buckfast bottle was thrown from the Hibs support towards Scotty Sinclair on Saturday – and he emphatically condemned this recent trend in the Scottish game.
“Too many times this season a line has been crossed,” Kris Ajer stated.
“Scottish fans are the best in the world but a few are destroying the whole picture. Bottle and coin throwing is completely unacceptable.”
Ajer has perhaps coped well with the traumatic departure of the core management team at the start of last week, without even being given the courtesy of them saying their goodbyes.
“I’m taking things one day at a time and hoping to continue to perform,” Ajer stated.
“You dream of playing for a massive club and to wear the Celtic badge and play on Celtic Park is really special.”
