Rangers v Celtic: Team News, Match Officials, Kick-off Time & Where to Watch

It’s an historic night for the SWPL1 as Sky Sports for the first time ever broadcast a live Glasgow Derby from the Scottish Women’s Premier League.  A month ago the two sides met at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie and Celtic FC Women came out of that one as emphatic 3-0 winners with two goals from central defender Caitlin Hayes and one from forward Amy Gallacher. Here is the Unique Angle of that one…

Tonight the pressure is actually on both sides as leaders Glasgow City picked up the three points away to Hibs yesterday and currently sit 9 points ahead of Celtic and ten ahead of theRangers, who are the current SWPL1 Champions.  Glasgow City will want a draw but both sides this evening need the three points so it’s going to be more like a cup-tie than a cagey league encounter and with a fair wind Celtic should be able to get the win in what Fran Alonso has described as the toughest of all the ten fixtures in the post split schedule that starts tonight for both Celtic and theRangers.

Team News

Fran Alonso has no new injury worries other than the long term casualties including Lucy Ashworth-Clifford who will miss the rest of the season after her ACL injury which was picked up on our last visit to Broadwood to play tonight’s hosts.  Chloe Craig is now fully fit and back in contention for tonight’s game, she’s one of the players who always seems to excel against theRangers and she could get the nod ahead of Taylor Otto of Claire O’Riordan. Fran Alonso likes to rotate his squad so it’s probably more difficult second guessing the Celtic FC Women manager than it is predicting Ange Postecoglou’s side, but we’ll give it a go…

Predicted Team

Tajonar, Kerner, Hayes, Clark, Craig, Menglu,  Ross, Chance, Gallacher, Jacynta and Flint

Pam Tajonar will have the gloves. The back three will be Caitlin Hayes, the captain Kelly Clark and Chloe Craig. The two wing-back (both are excellent) will be Hana Kerner and Shen Menglu while the two sitting midfielders will be tough as nails Natalie Ross and Liv Chance. The two creative attackers in No10 roles will be Amy Gallacher and the playmaker Jacynta while ‘Goal Machine’ Tash Flint will lead the line in a 3-4-3 formation.

Subs: Chloe Logan, Claire O’Riordan, Taylor Otto, Shen Mengyu , Lisa Roberston, Maria McAneny, our birthday Ghirl Liv Fergusson and Tegan Bowie.

Match Officials

Tonight’s referee is Steven MacDonald and he will be assisted by Ross Nelson and Ian Hart. The Fourth Official at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld this evening will be Ross Anderson.

Kick-off Time

The SWPL1 match between theRangers and Celtic will kick-off at 7.30pm.

Where to Watch

Tonight’s Glasgow Derby is being broadcast live on Sky Sports, with the pre-match build-up starting at 7pm.

Sky showed the Merseyside Derby on Friday evening which ended in a 1-1 draw and that match was played at Goodison Park and in front of a very decent crowd, much bigger than will be there tonight, yet Celtic took over 5000 fans to Liverpool at the weekend for a legends friendly match. Tonight Celtic are chasing three points to keep them in the title race and also in the hunt for a Champions League spot.

If only the supporters and the club themselves where as positive and passionate about the Ghirls as the Celtic Star we would skoosh this league , but the so called best supporters in the world will be watching some non Celtic international pish and the wealthiest club in the country sold one of our best players to Swedish nobodies so Fran and Ghirls will need a miracle imo to overcome City ( The establishment team ) and the free spending Sevco , why fan groups n media ignore the women’s team i don’t know but well done the Celtic Star an COYGIG .
