Vinicius Junior has sent all three Group F opponents an ominous warning that Real Madrid remains hungry for more success in the Champions League. The current Champions of Europe are set to play Celtic at Celtic Park on Tuesday night as they look to get their defence of the trophy off to a great start against Ange Postecoglou’s side who will clearly have other ideas.
Yet the Real Madrid star admits to being somewhat apprehensive that the incredible atmosphere that the Celtic fans will create at Paradise will hit him hard on the night.
The Brazillian certainly broke Liverpool hearts during last year’s Champions League final in Paris, scoring the goal that delivered a 14th Champions of Europe crown – and to think before Celtic take on the Spanish giants we have to play the self-proclaimed ‘Most Successful Club in Europe’, what a brass neck they have!
As reported by The Daily Mail, Vinicius Junior explains that winning just makes him want more glory. “Winning the Champions League just makes you hungry to win more. It is not like you win one and you think that is it I have accomplished my dream – no, it makes you more determined.
“I look at the players here who have won five Champions League titles and that is what I want – to win five or maybe even six titles and to go down in history like many great players who have worn the Madrid shirt.”
The Real Madrid winger went on to discuss his thoughts on the upcoming matches in Group F. He points out the atmosphere that will be created in Celtic Park, however, that particular phenomenon can’t really be put into words.
“Of course, the aim as always for this club is to win the Champions League – but for now, we are fully focused on the group stage. Celtic has a big tradition and we know their fans will create a big atmosphere,” Vinicius Junior added.
“Leipzig has some very good young players and German clubs are never easy to play against. For Shakhtar, it will be special for them even if they do not get to play their games in their stadium.
As the Champions League Group stage opens on Tuesday, the highly anticipated clash between Celtic and the current Champions of Europe, Real Madrid will be played before 60,000 Celtic supporters and a huge audience watching around the world. What a platform it is for this exciting Celtic team to go about putting on a show!
Can’t wait!
