Red Alert – Dalglish will remain Liverpool Legend but will Steven Gerrard as Herald Poll shows 69% in favour of Null and Void?

THE HERALD are running a poll in what appears to be an attempt to drum up some kind of counter argument to awarding the Scottish Premiership Title to Celtic.

It’s titled “Poll: Should Celtic be crowned Champions if league suspended due to coronavirus pandemic?” and guess what? They are coming to the conclusion that the league should be declared Null and Void as it stops Celtic doing 9-in-a-row.

Remember that brilliant animated video back in 2012 – Explaining Debt to a (cough) Rangers supporter? Maybe those creative chaps should pull together a sequel – Explaining Null and Void to them. We’ll do that shortly.

Here’s a quick screenshot on how the voting is going on The Herald’s Poll…

So far they have had 26597 votes cast, with 30% opting for “Yes – Celtic are 13 points clear with 8 games remaining”, with 69% opting for “No – The league should be void and no one should be crowned Champions”. Just 1% selected the third option, “Unsure – There are too many factors to consider.”

Neil Lennon is quoted from his Friday Media Conference at Lennoxtown talking about what should happen if the league is cancelled, although strangely Steven Gerrard has said nothing.

In his Sunday Post column Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish savaged those rancid self interest proponents of the English and Scottish Leagues being declared Null and Void, thus denying run-away leaders Liverpool of their first title since 1990 and second their first 9-in-a-row since 1974, when of course Kenny Dalglish was at the Celtic.

It would certainly be interesting to hear what another Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has to say on whether the English league should be declared Null and Void. Does he agree with Kenny Dalglish or not?

“We would be the champions and rightly so,” the Celtic manager, who did front up to the media on Friday unlike some. “We are 13 points clear. Dundee United, they would have to be promoted as well.

“Certainly, if you are talking about the Armageddon of the league being cancelled or stopped, it should go on the average points total which would make us clear champions and rightly so.

“We are over 30 games into the season, they are not going to take that away from us. Are they going to do that to Liverpool? I would doubt it very much.

“I get your point about Hearts but you have to look at average point per game and take it from there. If it was to stop now I would doubt very much that they would say it was null and void.”

Here’s Lenny’s Media Conference for anyone who hasn’t watched it yet.

Not too many Celtic fans bother reading The Herald these days but if you want to nip over there and cast your vote then here is the place to do it – HERE.

One Liverpool legend who has stepped up to the plate to fight the club’s corner is Kenny Dalglish But where are you Stevie G? What have you got to say about the leagues in England and Scotland being declared Null and Void?

“What must definitely not happen is for the 2019-20 campaign to be declared null and void. That would not be fair, and any person with football at heart would admit that would be totally out of order,” King Kenny said and Liverpool supporters will certainly have welcomed his words.

“In Scotland, would it be fair to say to the Premiership leaders, Celtic, that all of their efforts in the past nine months over 30 games count for nothing? The same would apply to Dundee United in the Championship,” Dalglish wrote in his Sunday Post column.

“Would any person without an agenda really think it would be the most-sensible outcome to deny Liverpool their chance of winning the title after doing fantastically well in their 29 league games so far to build up a 25-point lead over Manchester City with nine games remaining?

“Of course not. Nobody can allow the hard work to count for nothing. So let’s do away with any of this talk, and try to use our time and energy wisely.

“Like the rest of the us, I have no idea when the world will settle down and there will be some kind of normality back to our daily routines. But the authorities need to show patience and strong leadership.

“It could well be football is closed down for four weeks, and we resume in the middle of April, or towards the end of that month. There needs to be guidance and instruction on when competitive football will resume,” King Kenny wrote.

One thing is for sure he will remain a Liverpool legend. The answers to the questions that are about to come his way will determine if the same can be said about Steven Gerrard of the Liverpool.

Maybe King Kenny should have a word in his ear?
